![]() Driving through it will trigger a Fan Run of 12 arches to drive through in slalom style. Once you get it, you're done.ġ.4 – An Introduction To Fan Runs – While progressing through a track, a bouncing sign with an arrow between two cones will appear, always in the same spot. Fan Targets for each track are "Secondary Lights" and exist independent of the difficulty. Stringing multiple stunts together in a short period of time triggers a multiplier to give you even more, as does unique executions of certain powerups. all contribute to collecting fans throughout the race. Hitting other racers with powerups, using nitro without hitting walls, drifting, launching off jumps, etc. Approach them with patience and you'll be rewarded for it.ġ.3 – An Introduction To Fan Targets – Fan Targets, similar to Kudos in Project Gotham Racing, are accumulated through a variety of fan-pleasing stunts throughout the race. Some events may be tedious, but they are explicit in their mission to make you a better racer. Races teach aggression and defense, Destruction primes you for mastering the use of bolts (critical to later success), and Checkpoint forces you to discover the fastest lines through a given track. Checkpoint runs on a backwards timer to ending your race, leaving you to collect a combination of nitros and stopwatches (which grant an additional two seconds) to stave off elimination from the event. Destruction arms you with bolts, and spawns AI racers that you wreck to accumulate points. Race pits you against 10-20 AI-controlled racers in a traditional slugfest to the finish line. The modules present the full gamut of tracks in an organically organized way, to best prepare and teach you the ins and outs of each course in ways that you are simply incapable of exploring in a frantic multiplayer environment.ġ.2 – Learning The Event Modes – There are three formats of race events in single player: Race, Destruction and Checkpoint. For this reason (amongst others to be listed in a bit), it is highly recommended that you complete the single player campaign prior to engaging in online multiplayer.
